HMI Institute of Health Sciences

 

The HMI Institute of Health Sciences is a dedicated private healthcare education provider offering nursing education and healthcare training services. It is an Approved Training Centre and Approved Assessment Centre under the Singapore National Skills Recognition System("NSRS"), implemented by the Singapore Workforce Developmet Agency ("WDA"). It was awarded CaseTrust for Education for good business practices in November 2005 .

School of Nursing Education

The School of Nursing Education provides Singapore Nursing Board ("SNB") accredited training programs for nurses who want to pursue a nursing career in the Singapore healthcare industry. The course currently offered are the new Bachelor of Nursing in collaboration with Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology ("RMIT") University, Certificate in Nursing Practices for Foreign Educated Nurses ("CFEN") and Certificate in Nursing.

The HMI-IHS School of Nursing Education has continued to expand. HMI-IHS recieved SNB accreditation for the new Bachelor of Nursing program offered in collaboration with RMIT University in August 2006.

The CFEN program has produced graduates with outstanding results. The 2nd intake of CFEN student nurses from China performed remarkably in the SNB Registered Nurse Licensure Examination in January 2006 with a continuation of a 100% pass rate, of which 75% scored a distinction and 19% obtained a merit. HMI-IHS has commenced its 5th CFEN intake in October 2006. All China nurse graduates from CFEN course are currently working in restructured hospitals, private hospitals, and other healthcare institutions in Singapore.

HMI-IHS has signed a MOU with Linyi People's Hospital in Shandong, China, to develop and promote international nursing education programs that will enable China nurses to attain qualifications for international placement. The MOU was signed at the "China-Singapore Forum on Contemporary Healthcare Management" in Shanghai which was organised by IE Singapore, and was witnessed by Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Singapore 's Minister of State for Trade and Industry and key Chinese Officals on 10 September 2006.

School of Healthcare Vocational Training

The HMI-IHS School of Healthcare Vocational Training provides NSRS approved training programs for those seeking an entry careers in the Singapore healthcare industry, as well as for those looking to upgrade themselves for better career prospects. The courses currently offered are the new Health Care Assistant Course, Inpatient Care Assistant Course, Operating Theatre Technical Assistant Course and Outpatient Clinic Assistant Course.

The HMI-IHS School of Healthcare Vocational Training has continued to expand with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") with National University Hospital ("NUH") for collaboration in development of the Health Care Assistant Course, as well as the training and placement of health care assistants for NUH. The Health Care Assistant Course obtained approval from NSRS in April 2006. The Inpatient Care Assistant Course was also revamped in line with hospital inputs and recieved NSRS approval in January 2006.
